Business notebook: Georgia-Pacific to break ground on $300 million plant – Abilene Reporter-News

SWEETWATER — Georgia-Pacific, which operates 12 manufacturing facilities in Texas, will on Tuesday conduct a ground breaking for the construction of its second gypsum wallboard production facility in Nolan County, at 310 FM 1856.

The new plant, which will be located next to Georgia-Pacific’s first location, is scheduled to go online in late 2022, and is valued at approximately $300 million.

Once operational, the new plant will provide approximately 120 full-time jobs. Combined, Georgia-Pacific expects that two plans will be able to produce more than 1 billion square feet of gypsum products annually.

Due to pandemic safety precautions, the ceremony will be by invitation only.
