Chandler Jacobs Signs to Play at Texas Tech – Texas Tech Red Raiders – TexasTech.com

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams has announced the signing of graduate transfer Chandler Jacobs who is coming off an all-American senior season at Dallas Baptist University. Jacobs will complete his accounting degree from DBU this semester and enroll at TTU with one year of eligibility remaining.

A Missouri City, Texas native, Jacobs played four seasons at DBU where he set the program’s all-time scoring mark with 1,919 points and was a four-time all-conference and all-region selection. Jacobs earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-America honors and was the 2021 Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year and LSC Academic Player of the Year as a senior.

The opportunity to play a significant role and contribute and be part to the Texas Tech culture is something I found hard to pass on.”

Jacobs averaged 20.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season and also had 54 total steals was the second most throughout all of Division II. He was 10th overall at 2.45 steals per game and helped DBU to a 17-5 overall record and to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season. A 6-foot-3 guard, Jacobs also had 60 assists last year and finished the season shooting 57-for-128 (44.5 percent) on 3-pointers. He recorded four double-doubles and scored in double-figures in all 22 games. He finished his time at DBU by also setting a new school record with 666 field goals made field and with 616 rebounds which ranks second all-time in DBU program history.

Jacobs scored a season-high 32 points in a win over Oklahoma Christian where he was 13-for-20 from the field and also provided seven rebounds. Jacobs was named the USBWA National Player of the Week two straight weeks as a senior and finished the year by earning South Central Regional All-Tournament honors. He had 13 games of 20 or more points as a senior, starting with a 25-point, 10-rebound performance in the season-opener against Angelo State. At the LSC Tournament he would go off for 24 points and 11 rebounds against West Texas A&M. In his final game at DBU, Jacobs had a season-high eight assists and also provided 17 points in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against WT.

At DBU, Jacobs earned Lone Star Conference First-Team honors the past two seasons after securing Heartland Conference honors his first two seasons. Making an immediate impact as a freshman, he earned Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year along with being named to the NABC All-South Central Region Team. He would finish as a four-time All-South Central Region Selection, including after his junior season where he averaged 16.3 ppg. and 5.2 rpg. He scored his junior-season best with 32 points in a win over Cameron. As a sophomore playing in the Heartland Conference, Jacobs would average 15.0 ppg. in his second year in college where he matched a career-best 33 points against Arkansas Fort Smith. As a freshman, Jacobs averaged 14.9 points per game including going off for 33 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Mid-American Christian for his first of eight career double-doubles at DBU.

Jacobs was a three-year letterman at Elkins High School (Fort Bend ISD) and earned District 24-5A Most Valuable Player honor as a senior where he averaged 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He was an all-region selection for head coach Albert Thomas and also helped Elkins HS to a 35-2 record and the Class 5A state championship game as a junior. A three-time academic all-district selection, Jacobs also competed for Texas Elite.
