COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer battled the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to a 2-0 win in the team’s first preseason exhibition action of the season on Thursday evening at Tech Soccer Field.

The match remained a back-and-forth scoreless battle through the first 55 minutes of the contest until freshman Kirstine Lykke battled through traffic and knocking one in from the near box to net the Blue Raiders their first goal of the contest in the 56th minute.

Sophomore Mia Roberts added to the Blue Raiders lead after shooting a laser into the upper right corner of the net to give Middle Tennessee the 2-0 advantage in the 65th minute of play. The Golden Eagles attempted four shots over the final 25 minutes of play, one of which was denied with an incredible save in goal by freshman keeper Talia Nowlan. The final minutes ticked out of the clock before the horn sounded to close out the Blue Raiders 2-0 victory.

Middle Tennessee commanded most of the game, outshooting the Golden Eagles 18-9. Senior Peyton DePriest and junior Elizabeth Slavinsky led the way for the Blue Raiders with four shots apiece and DePriest targeting a team-high three on goal.

The Blue Raiders will close out their preseason action on Sunday as they travel to Clarksville to take on the Austin Peay Governors. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
