OTHERS IN THE MIX
The Virginia Tech coaching staff has continued to find a surplus of success when it comes to the recruiting trail. That certainly can be said about the Hokies landing the services of star Oklahoma point guard Sean Pedulla in this past 2021 class. He was tabbed as the 165th-best prospect, 25th-best point guard and second-best player in the Sooner State as part of the 2021 class by 247Sports. Pedulla chose to come to Blacksburg over Minnesota and nearby Oklahoma State, and is set to see some significant minutes at the point for a Tech team picked to finish fifth in the ACC preseason poll. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder averaged 17.6 points per game during his senior season at Edmond Memorial High School, and is set to pick up where he left off serving in a valuable reserve role for the Hokies.
It shouldn’t go without mentioning that guard Hunter Cattoor could also see some time running the show up top for Tech if need be. The Orlando, Florida native and former Wofford signee will see the majority of his action at the two-guard spot, but could slide over to the point in case of a potential injury or possible foul trouble. Cattoor has made three or more 3-pointers in 12 games in a Tech uniform and shot over 40 percent from deep in 31 games. Additionally, he shot over 40 percent from three in each of his first two seasons in Blacksburg.
