Annual fire hydrant testing and water main flushing begins April 12

Beginning April 12, the Cañon City Water Department will begin its annual program of exercising fire hydrants throughout the system. The purpose of this program is to remove sediment and tuberculation from the water mains, which improves the water quality. Flushing will begin at the western end of the system and work toward the eastern end. It will take about 6 weeks to complete. Customers may experience cloudy water or low pressure for a short period of time during this flushing program. For more information, call the Cañon City Water Department at 719-269-9022.
